Set Up a Site for Events

Add event category types and event categories, and configure your site settings to correctly handle events.

If event categories and types do not already exist on your site, you can create new categories using the below steps.

Create an Event Category Type

  1. Click on the search bar at the top of the dashboard.
  2. On the left hand side, filter for Event Category Type.
  3. Click the New button on the bottom left corner.
  4. Name the Site and click Publish.

Create an Event Category

  1. Click on the search bar at the top of the dashboard.
  2. On the left hand side, filter for Event Category.
  3. Create a Display Name for the category. The Internal Name is the name displayed in internal Brightspot editor searches and can be overridden if desired.
  4. Choose the category type you wish to display and populate the page with content as desired.
  5. Click Publish.

Configure the Site

  1. Go to the site settings menu in the top left corner and open the Sites and Settings section under the Admin tab. If you do not have access to this area, please contact your website administrator.
  2. Scroll down to the Events section and specify a primary and academic category type.
  3. If API linking is desired, toggle the switch to turn it on.
  4. Click Save.

Add a New Event

Adding events to the event category type will automatically add them to the page associated with the category. To add a new event, follow the instructions here.
