Add a Custom Button to a Header

This article has instructions on how to add custom buttons to the header.

To add a custom button across all the headers on a site, please follow the "Site-Wide Header Button" guide below. Or, to only have a custom button for a single page or content item, follow the "Single Page Header Button".

Site-Wide Header Button

To add a custom button to all pages on the website, navigate to the Sites and Settings link under Admin on the left setting menu on Brightspot. Only site admins have the option to do this.

Navigation Link example

  1. Once there click on the Front End tab.
  2. Under Home Header Links (it's a couple of settings below the Favicon options) click on Add Navigation Link.
  3. Now give the button a name and choose whether the link is External (meaning it is outside of Brightspot) or Internal (created inside of Brightspot).
  4. Click on Save at the bottom of the page.

Now the header on all pages of the website would have a custom button on it.

Single Page Header Button

To add a button to a single content item or page, go to the content where the button should be added and click on the Overrides tab at the top.

  1. Navigate to the Header dropdown and scroll down to find Custom Button.
  2. Click on the drop-down and choose Select
  3. Now give the button a name and choose whether the link is External (meaning it is outside of Brightspot) or Internal (created inside of Brightspot).
