Content Templates

Content templates allow editors to create a standard starting point for common content. For example, if an editor regularly creates pages that follow a set format, use the same modules, or use standard sections or tags, they can use a content template with common modules, settings, text, or images already in place. They can even add a button in the Quick Start menu on their Dashboard for easy access to create new content using a content template.

Content templates should not be confused with themed templates that might have been used more widely in other systems. They're a starting point for creating new content, but the new content doesn't keep any sort of reference to the template that was used to create it. This means that a change to the content template won't have any effect on the content created in the past using the template.

See the video tutorial below for steps on how to implement a content template for a website after it's created. Please contact websites@byu.edu to create a content template.
