Upload Multiple Events from a Spreadsheet

Set up events and go to the CSV upload page

  1. Make sure your site is set up correctly for events.
  2. Open the sidebar menu using the button at the top left.
  3. Go to Admin > Upload Events as CSV.

Create a spreadsheet (and export as CSV)

  1. If needed, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the CSV File Template link to download the example file (BYU_Events_Sample.csv) to start your spreadsheet.
  2. Open the CSV file using a spreadsheet editor (such as Excel or Numbers).
  3. Remove the example events, and add the events you wish to upload.
  4. Update the start and end date formats to mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss (e.g. 05/23/2020 15:30:00 for May 23, 2020 at 3:30pm).
  5. Export the spreadsheet in CSV format.

Upload the CSV file and edit events

  1. Go back to the Upload Events as CSV page.
  2. In the dropdown under Csv File, choose New Upload
  3. Click the Choose button or drag and drop your file to the New Upload area.
  4. If all of your events have the same location, choose (or create) a location under Event Location.
  5. If all of your events have the same primary category, choose the correct Primary Category.
  6. Add Secondary Categories as needed.
  7. Click the Save button.
  8. You should see a screen telling you what has been done: which events were loaded successfully and any issues that have been encountered.
  9. All of your new events have been saved as drafts so you can now go add more detail and publish them.

Edit uploaded events in bulk

  1. Click the Search bar at the top of the screen.
  2. In the left sidebar, change All Content Types to Events to start filtering the list of content.
  3. In the left sidebar, change the default Status (Published) dropdown to Draft to show all of the events that have not yet been published.
  4. In the right sidebar, use the New Workstream and/or Bulk Edit buttons to edit multiple events.
    1. Use a New Workstream for quickly editing each event individually.
    2. Use the Bulk Edit button to update all events with the same settings in one or more fields.
