Promos allow you to "beautify" your links and content on Brightspot with photos, short descriptions, and a layout that will help users understand and be more likely to click on your content. Headers of pages make great promos, as they are able to display full-width photos and links and make the page look professional. Each content type is able to set how they would be displayed in promo format.
Promo Types
Promos are not items that can be created from a shortcut or the searchbar. Rather, they must be used in lists or as a content type inside of a page. For a list of promo types and display options, consult the Brightspot component library below.
Promos in List
A common use of promos is as advanced lists. These are lists that are not simply text or links like basic lists. Advanced lists allow you to add promos as content types. These lists can have custom photos, descriptions, and titles.
Setting Promo Share Settings
Instead of changing the settings manually each time a promo is added, settings can be changed on the page, article, or whatever content type being used in a promo in their settings.
In the content using a promo, click on the Overrides type in the tab and open up Promo Module Overrides (Internal). This override tab will automatically use data input here and set it anywhere on any page when this page is used as a promo.
- Title: The title of what the content should be called.
- Promo Description: How the content type should be described.
- Promo Image: The image that should be displayed to represent the content page.
Once the overrides have been configured, publish the content and they will be saved.
